    I will say 2026, at least in the US, has this energy like everyone (who's not 70 years old) is totally aware that something is wrong in so many facets of life where it wasn't like that before, at least in my social and work circles

    I'm not saying it's a good thing, but it's refreshing that everybody I know seems to be on the same page about US politics being complete and total joke, new music and movies for the most part are worthless, people are getting meaner etc.

    this is true! i totally agree

    maybe it’s an oversimplification, but i think those types of cultural realizations were what the coorportizations of the internet was meant to prevent. and it did toa. large extent.

    but it kinda delayed that culture progress instead of prevent it outright. and in another 10 years I think it will build up and snowball again like it seemed like it was going to when i was younger.

    for a few years it seemed like idk. that wasnt gonna happen

    I feel like I don't have a good judgement on it because I was a kid/teen during what jumps out to me as "the good times"

    Like I felt something shift in 2016/2017 and then 2020/2021

    2022 felt like the first truly irredeemable year to me and it's been that way ever since

    feel like all of dis is spot on

    In general I'd say not as much

  • I was already approaching mid 20s in the mid to late 10s and I remember how exciting it was seeing "peak trap" as they cringilly called it - but Future and Migos having #1s felt like something pretty exciting even if the world was already pretty s***.

    I don't find any excitement in anything outside of isolated releases anymore, even if they can still be pretty great

    The best musical output in 2022 felt like an acceptable year for their respectable artists, not standouts (for the most part, there were a few exceptions)

    I think the dogshit we've received since then has made us view 2022 and prior more favorably
