“It’s so necessary” - Jay Z, 2003
diamond jubilee is so beautiful man
Super necessary
1979 i believe
i like you are what you is a lot.
the 80s orchestral stuff is alright
all the 80s live stuff is good pretty much, some incredible
Thing Fish is horrible though i cant believe he made an album that bad
Will have to check out some more 80s stuff
Never actually listened to Thing-Fish but I have heard bad things
@Orangutan @RVI @Hndrxx_Free i want final thoughts on the album!! i love tlaking about this album lol its like an endless enigma
its a 10/10 from me and from an artist whos prob in my top 20-50 range
other than obvious stuff i think the sequencing is amazing. and a perfect example of double album strengths
the surrealist approach just really connects with me and its some of my favorite lyrics ever (Beefheart one of my favorite lyricists overall). and 60s psychedelic music is one of my favorite types and though the album isnt that psychedelic in the same way its still within the context so has some specific sounds, like the guitar leads that really just fit my taste
and the occasional free jazz and pure blues aspects really take it to another level of unique even amidst the late 60s creativity in rock explosion
I feel like with a lot of boundary pushing music you can end up sounding more futuristic, but in some cases it ends up sounding ancient instead. and i think this is a perfect example of that, which is hard to pull off. it's really cutting edge for the time but also sounds like it was pulled up out of the ground in a dried up riverbed or something
and lastly its a very distinctly American combination of influences with the rock, blues, jazz and poetry which I think is very compelling
whats that
oh its one of the most beautiful albums of the 2020s i think. its unreal.
whats that
wanna listen to it or half of it? (its like 2 hours long)
same with me ty for joining!! album magic lol it always puts me in a better mood
Beefheart sessions gonna be CLASSIC ur gonna love other stuff
