every artist starts from somewhere tho
Yeah but like when people don’t make new album threads for the artist and instead post in the existing thread cause they know nobody is going to reply and they tryna make the artist look better. S*** is fake and corny as hell

Great change to stop old ass album threads being bumped, finallyyy
But if an album is announced/rolling out and it has a thread, a new thread for each single seems a lot
Gonna be better than what happens currently tho, I'm wit it
tbh each new single doesn’t need a new thread with a dedicated album thread, but i think a lot of people are afraid to start their own threads for whatever reason. hence all the “why is there no thread on (topic)” threads. they need some encouragement. it’s not cluttering music sxn if nobody bumps the thread after you make it anyways bc other people will be making threads that push it down quickly.
tangent, but have you seen what Drake sxn looks like? on one hand, they make their own threads on non-single album tracks if they have Drake feats on release night. and they make em crosspost in Music sxn. i think that’s too much given we already have a full album discussion thread by that time & try to quarantine to Drake sxn usually, but some other mod always moves em back.
but on the other hand, they make threads on random anniversaries like the 8th anniversary of a soundcloud loosie then bump the thread every year without updating that it’s now the 13th anniversary. so we wind up with threads saying “8th anniversary” for a random 2013 loosie in 2026. imo, anniversary threads are unwarranted if the artist isn’t already celebrating the anniversary or if it’s not a special number anniversary (5, 10, 20, 25, etc), especially if it’s just a single & not even an album. but bumping a prior year’s anniversary thread is like doubly cluttering to the home page. that sxn is a damn mess. that’s my rant about Drake sxn clutter. that’s actual clutter, making more threads on smaller artists in Music sxn isn’t clutter.
i imagine locking all artist threads one by one must feel good af
goodbye Griselda thread
If citadell thread gets locked im afraid ill be forced to make a separate thread for each of the 60 daily releases
GOOD

People dont like looking like “shit posters” . But litttle do they know thats the blood line of a forum. The good s*** will stick, the bad s*** will decompose.
Unfortunantly, we have users who will cry about a thread they dont like for 18 pages when the pages woulld have died at 2 pages without them

Not all s*** is bad. We all s***. S*** posting is inherently good thing.
It becomes a problem with the s*** posting starts to feel like the s*** poster is forcing you to eat his s***.

think of it this way:
1) discussion threads work better when the discussion has clear boundaries. if people later want to discuss one album but the album thread is now being used for the artist’s next album, that’s stupid and easily avoidable.
2) an artist thread’s gonna get bumped when the person posting about their latest release makes a post anyways, so you’re not gonna see any more or less threads on smaller artists than you already do.
3) it doesn’t make a difference to anybody how many posts a thread they’re not clicking on has. ops aren’t reporting to their bosses like “we finally made it to page 3 on ktt2”. and even if they were, it would probably look worse for them if there’s only 1 thread on the whole site about this artist they’re promoting & they’re the only one who ever posts in it.
what about making a small exception for sprawling complex artist networks like citadell? it would only apply to these really niche indie artists anyway. then u got the best of both worlds. there would only be like 2 or 3 threads that fall under this category anyway
