in case u were wondering that is the defitnion of blackmail.

he had something, he would share, if the other party didnt do something he wanted.

    blackmail

Don’t play semantics with me. Mutually assured destruction isn’t the type of blackmail we were talking about.

no we were talking about blackmail

  • i didnt say there was hard evidence of him blackmailing somebody into giving him private jets or something

  • et lost the debate and now its because of “semantics”

no we were talking about blackmail

If we killed someone together and said “neither of us tell a soul about this or we both go down”, that’s not blackmail in a conversational sense

I mean if you filmed it and used it to stop them from acting on it after the fact yeah that's blackmail

That's like almost as blackmail as blackmail can get

Yes if I threatened to release the video unless you gave me a million dollars, it would be blackmail. And very stupid blackmail.

But just having the video with the mutual understanding that we both will keep silent or go down together, that isn’t how anyone would define blackmail.

You don't need to specifically voice a threat for something to be considered blackmail

If you are keeping damning evidence of someone doing bad things and you request favors after they already know you have that evidence that can also be considered blackmail

Yes it can. But having a pact of silence on something isn’t blackmail, even if you know that breaking that silence will take the other person down (as well as you)

If you ask them for things after that, exactly.

Not by just possessing it as a deterrent from the code of silence breaking.

The question was why would Epstein record people if not to blackmail them for stuff.

And my answer was possibly as a deterrent from ratting him out.

It’s that simple. We don’t have to jump through semantic hoops

  • Poopfeast420

well a) possessing a video as a deterrent is absoltely blackmail.
    b) he did ask them for things like access to other influential people, to expand his web. which with how big these people are is a big ask. but thats irrelevant, since its blackmail regardless

If you threaten to expose them if they exposed you then that would also be considered blackmail yes

no you initially said he never blackmailed people.

    which he did.

and now youre saying its semantics because u know that was foolish to say
