i think the expectations for a barely established 21 year old is different than someone middle aged.

Expectations as far as how much they have accomplished - sure

Societal expectations as in what they should be responsible for and what they are allowed to do - no they are fully grown

I think a lot of people are more willing to cut slack for someone younger because they’re just now experiencing adulthood. I don’t think it’s infantilizing to recognize that.

I’d say 21-25ish could get some slack as well but that’s me. The brain is still developing around those ages and I didn’t feel like an established adult until roughly 25.

  • Nort 💫

it’s harder to get to that point too nowadays because people are taking longer to leave their parents house

This is a step too far to me

Once you are 18 you are an adult in my eyes

Once you are 21 you're really an adult

Your brain might develop some more but your brain never stops developing technically and you're grown

Can’t agree with you here. I think our next step is to physically fight about this.

    Its baloney

A bunch of people want to treat you like a baby when you're in your 20s, but no one wants to give bottle.

the moral concern would be that this type of guy is pursuing a weird power dynamic in his relationships which is hmmmm

But nobody cares if a 40 year old woman is dating a 22 year old guy

Like you can look at an especially large age gap and think "that's strange" but I don't believe anyone has a genuine like ethical concern about it
