    no its not imo

it looks fugly, its just lets make a game with the best “graphics” possible with no consideration for the aesthetics, let alone being loyal to the aethestics of a game with 40 years of tradition and precedent.

nintendo has been putting out “remakes” and “remasters” of old games instead of new content for years and while i dont mind people who are too young to have bought the ogs playing them, they should not be a replacement for real games. but theyve become the dominant thing.

and the mainline games they do make are a far cry from their hey day even if some of them are “good” games. or have an insane game hidden in them thats overlooked because of extra crap

mario kart world a great example of this. mechanic wise its the best mario kart game ever made, with the highest skill cieling by far. but then they force the intermission tracks instead of giving an option to skip, so everyone plays on private discords.

im very disillusioned with the company. they lost their way like 7 or 8 years ago

the game doesnt look bad my only gripes are how young link and zelda look. Other than that shi looks harde

but also we dont know if we want kids at all

I never really understood people who just dont have kids at all tbh. like do what makes you happy tho.

whose going to take care of you when youre older?

whose going to be your familly when your SO dies or you get divorced?

whats the point of making money or having a career at all? are the trapping of money like having nice clothes and a nice house and having occasional vacations the end all? if thats what its all about out I’d kill myself because none of that brings me that much joy. its nice and a good distraction on occasion. but its still vapid consumerism at the end of the day

even the joy of making art, how can i make art without living a full life, which includes raising another human being. theres so many things they will teach me I am eschewing over the trappings of money

if i didnt have kids I would die feeling like I just consumed stuff I could take or leave and didn’t contribute anything substantial to the world

    they do.

theyre still better than any triple a studio right now. but every single one has been bogged down by the money brought in from the videogame boom 20 years ago.

they used to rewrite and redefine the entire genre over and over and over every 3 to 4 years and did it consistently for like 30 years. its unprecedented.

then they just back slide into chasing the dream of becoming japan’s disney, as opposed to continuing to innovate in games.

but its because gaming is a mature market now, theres not really more new people buying games, than people are dying off. before the market contsantly grew and grew as it got more popular. theyve saturated the market and now the mission has shifted.

how can we continue to extract wealth and increase shareholder value without increasing the number of costumers?

its not by making good games, its by making the moves theyre making now.

    this is all true!

but also many people are not mentally mature enough to raise kids to the maximum of their ability in their 20s.

even if its better for YOU to have kids early, so you can enjoy your sunset years better, all that matters is, is if what you did in the best interest of the kid

also a LOT of people in their 20s just cannot afford it and the ones that do afford it at the concession of their careers or ability to compound their money. which again, would benefit the kid more later on.

    but everyone’s situation is different

i think the best argument for having kids younger is that it means you get to spend more time with your kids and grandkids overall

It’s a lot less scary than it sounds tbh. It’s hard to explain or grasp until you actually have a kid but we have natural instincts in child-rearing. This whole starting to have kids at 35 thing is a product of the last 20-30 years. Prior to that, the average age was like 24-25 and a high percentage of the population had kids at like 20. So I don’t think maturity is a real issue, having kids matures you almost instantly.

I agree though that people who can’t financially support a child shouldn’t have kids until they can.

oh i know! theres a great website that lets you compare sizes and stuff.

people say its racism and whatnot, which im sure played a role in that map being the dominant one.

but theyre not smaller for s***s, its smaller because you can’t project a 3d sphere on a 2d surface without some sort of distortion. you gotta choose shape, size or some other element to distort for it to be possible.

ive seen tht sentiment everywhere but i mean how else would they make it more different they've already remastered it sometime ago on 3ds the next step would be akin to this.

Yep, and even outside of a personal thing, there have to be people to fulfill societal roles and jobs. I mean with AI I guess it’s no longer a real problem, but a shortage of people across all industries was essentially eventually going to lead to societal collapse.

    1. Kids are awesome.

    2. The back end of your life is generally better than your front end in terms of financial stability, etc. But in terms of physically, it’s worse. Being younger and being able to keep up physically with your kid in terms of sports and stuff is better IMO.

    3. If you’re like 45 and your kids are adults or near adults, you then generally have more or less freedom to travel anywhere, etc. in a situation where you are still young enough and have the stamina to do most things.

    4. If you’re like 45, and have very young kids, you’re basically waiting until you’re in your mid-late-50s for the same opportunity, and things just aren’t the same at that point for most people.

That’s why I don’t agree with the whole “enjoying freedom before kids” mentality because that stage of life is where you’re much less generally equipped to enjoy freedom than you are later.

but also, I don’t really want to bring a kid into this world. I don’t feel ready either so it’s hard to even considerate at all right now. I’m also a huge hobbyist and I imagine that would provide me enough fulfillment in life. I could be naive on that last point, but out of fear of making a selfish decision and having a kid I don’t feel prepared for — I’ll live with that. There’s other ways to live a fulfilling life.

My perspective on this will probably be more liable to change in a few years but as of right now that’s where I’m at.

thats assuming AI lives up to the marketing hype, which nobody knows. im sure it will serve important roles in society. but literally nobody knows what will happen really. could be a nothing burger, could finish was nuclear bombs started, could automate every role, could be a mixture of the 3.
And people will always fulfill the most important societal role, even if it’s not bound by jobs.

a shortage of people would definitely lead to societal collapse.
