i think its fine for kids to start experimenting with weed and dirnking at 16. not that its a good thing or healthy. but they are going to do it behind my back regardless if they are going to do it.
i would rather know, pick them up if they need a ride so if they dont get in the car with a drunk driver. or end up getting so drunk they dont know where they are and end up in a bad situation.and i woudl instill moderation into them and explain the risks of doing it young.
also i would much rather they smoke weed than drink, which is much worse for them

it is but it is what it is. you can negate the worst of it through moderation and sensible education
like my kids first drink and first time getting drunk will be under my supervision so they know what its about and how to moderate themsleves.
i would let them have like a glass of wine with their meals eveyr now and then to normalize consuming smaller quantities.
The point is for them to eschew binge drinking culture entirely and espiclaly at a young age.
