Apparently one of Mach’s friends who was at the first private listening (with Hov and Craven) said Sept. 1st on Twitter then deleted it
As if it's even a debate lol P4H and BC are clearly dumbed down compared to Luh Hertz, Dumpmeister, Hommy Edition, the Dollar Menus, etc. It's not 'selling out' ig but definitely trying to appeal to a wider audience.
And if it was a great album people from the listening party would spread the word. It's not talked about at all except for the Marci/Fahim thing
I dunno, everyone who went seemed to have enjoyed what they heard. Can’t imagine they have much more to offer than that re: a bunch of songs they only got to listen to once (well, aside from the Black Thought song, which was apparently run back multiple times, but still).
I feel you re: P4H and BC feeling lighter, though, especially in comparison to the 2017 run. I believe he and West both said there was a conscious effort to not go so over people’s heads on P4H. The flows are still pretty clean on P4H and most of the production is still engaging and enjoyable, but I get just wanting the rawest of raw s*** from Mach, haha

Exactly. It was hard to hear bars at the listening event but arrangement-wise it was definitely on the same track as his most recent stuff. There is definitely a conscious effort being made to appeal to a wider audience which, in my mind, will always come with the sacrifice of the weirder, more experimental sound. It’s tough to strike that balance. At this point I don’t remember what any of the tracks sounded like, really, lol. Reality is Mach is much closer to mainstream now than we ever thought he’d be pre-pandemic, and that feels intentional on his part. It comes with its trade-offs.
He said "come down from mount Olympus Mach, yo god, we need you down here on earth". I said "aight bet I'm here". Statement of intent right there.
Forgot how many great tracks P4H has tbh. I think I don't spin it enough cause all the best tracks are in the middle
Yo I did some reflection and seriously f*** what I said before. Mach gave us like 15 projects of the best rapping I've ever heard and as soon as he switched his style a little bit I'm calling him a sellout. That's f***ing embarrassing from me. I let my love for his earlier music get in the way of thinking straight. Mach's one of the most inspiring people on earth, I hope he can make this next stage of his career as profitable as possible. Can barely think of any artist who deserves it more

we'll let it slide once, but s*** gets serious on this side. tread lightly.

Super cool to see Black Thought hang out with Mach btw. To see Mach be embraced by god mcs like Thought, they belong in the same pantheon for sure. Epic link up
"Aye send me the link to that new Heem Stogied"
Every feature of his is great?
Heem Stogied was the highlight of Dump Gawd Hommy Edition I never understood the hate
