not sure...they started working together more heavily around the time WKJ dropped so maybe when they linked for the track on the first Muggs project they just caught a vibe and decided to keep it going...they had worked together a few times before though as well

Bubble and squeak is British pub food, you could cook/serve it in a small ramekin. I think Mach maybe worked in a high end kitchen at some point based on all the gourmet references and the Regina video

Given that his grandma’s house allegedly smells like Santeria every time, I always thought the “custard in your ramekins” line was a reference to an orisha throne, which is when you fill a ramekin with merengue or custard as an offering to one of the religion’s spirit gods. I forget which song it is but he says something about an “Ogun shrine”, which is also a Santeria reference, and Florida Water is a Santeria thing, too.
That’s cool about “bubble and squeak”, though, I had no idea!

Listened to my “Mach Dolo” playlist on my way to work, which is all of his songs that don’t have a feature artist (Fahim-less JuJu songs and “No Pop Filter” are still in there, though). As far as non-Mach stuff, digging the new Navy Blue record and new stuff by a punk band I like from Cleveland called the Cowboy.

Ohhh word you def right about that. Another orisha reference on blackamoor broach too. Even still, he has enough references to like béchamel, crudité, etc. that I sometimes have to guess if he’s talking about obscure food or obscure firearms.

And I totally agree about him maybe having worked as a chef or something. There are so many food references in his music that when I tried to turn a friend of mine onto him he compared it to Action Bronson, haha. I definitely want an interviewer to ask him about it.
