Yup, kinda kills the vibe if ur checking for the concept

Ima be honest though bro I didn’t know s*** about Haitian history before discovering Mach so beyond the music it was super dope to learn all that s*** about the Duvaliers at the same time

  • Jan 1, 2020

Somebody could have told Mach to STFU with all that "what if I told you..." He was doing at the begining of desert eagle

Yeah I agree. All the Ice-T Arsenio Hall skits are definitely cool and interesting but don’t fit the overall theme.

All the more reason we need an HBO2 where Mach goes for another hour over more August Fanon production exploring another tight knit concept 😭

  • Jan 1, 2020

Ngl bro Mach could have stretched WKJ to an hour with more tracks and a good number of skits sprinkled in about the Haitian slave revolts and Toussaint Louverture etc. and that could have been his HBO2

Conflicted and this has been bothering me for the past three months.

Mavi said that Earl is the best A&R.
Should we thank him (& Knxwledge) for their curation or thank him for putting people like MIKE and Mach “on the map” so to speak?

There was a long gap between the FYI EPs and when HBO was finally released to the public. Between then we had snippets from Earl’s show, Fahim projects, and GxFR features.

I mentioned on here a couple times how I appreciate Earl’s curation but I don’t think he should be The Godfather of any of these movements (Dump Gawd nor the sLUms Collective). Especially since he has only contributed one project for both Mach (Fete Des Morts) and the sLUms Collective (SRS). Thoughts?

And sorry to you Earl fans if I keep bringing this up. I didn’t listen to his discography until IDLS dropped. I feel he has provided very little in terms of music of the past five years but has done a lot to spread various music (love the Ethiopian vibes he introduced me to) to the masses

Somewhat agree that earl has developed more as a curator than he has progressed as an artist. While I think the path he took creatively was super unorthodox and not very marketable, I personally highly respect that choice. Dude had a lot of pressure on him as a rapper from a youngin and delivered 2 super dope projects that were mostly self produced. Then according to him he did a bunch of acid and smoked a lot, not to mention his dad dying and depressive tendencies, I think he lowkey went a lil crazy. But that’s when creative people shine the brightest. He decided to take more advantage of his platform and started the radio show w Knx and put me on to like 90% of my favorite artists, plus made some dope beats for people and spit some good verses. Solace is dope if you haven’t heard it.

Droog’s Twitter is the closest thing we have to an official Mach-Hommy social media account at this point so whatever, I’m into it.
