Lot of good points on both sides re: Mach over Fahim production. I’d still put Fahim up there with all of the younger underground producers, though. Saying he just does loops is kind of unfair when that’s what all of these dudes kind of do a lot of the time, and in Mach’s case we can’t always give all of the credit to the beat makers as far as anything sounding like more than “just a loop” since we don’t know exactly what he’s doing to a given beat after selecting it re: “Produced by Mach-Hommy for Mach-Hommy with Mach-Hommy’s bread”. Do I like him as much as Sadhu.? No. Am I always happy to see “prod. Tha God Fahim”? Yes.

I concur, on all fronts

There is more to it imo. (1) His style is kinda generic/not very distinctive. (2) Fahim is kinda fighting himself by releasing so much material and (1) doesnt help him here.
Don't get me wrong I absolutely love some of Fahims beats, but there is also a lot of forgettable ones imo. For me, he his not in the same bracket as Sadhu, Daringer etc.

This is fair; Fahim can absolutely be traditional to a fault, resulting in generic boombap beats.
As for the glut of released material, that’s kind of a double-edged sword for me as a listener, personally: on the one hand, stuff gets lost in the shuffle and I can’t get around to listening to everything, but on the other hand I know some of my favorite beats he’s done may have never seen the light of day if he were a normal 1-2 projects every 1-2 years artist (or even 2-3 a year like a lot of his contemporaries).

on that point about mach he said muggs was like the first true producer he met where like he can do arrangements and all sorts where he could take the backseat on a project for once and let himself just concentrate on raps. i think mach might not be a producer in the sense of beat making but the original sense niggas like quincy kanye pharrell who are great at arrangements and orchestrating/song structure

In fairness, the 'just does loops' criticism is one I have brought against some of those others mentioned too. Navy, for instance, I have criticised in the Slums thread for that. But, I can cut Navy some slack because: 1) he's earlier in his career, 2) has far less releases/credits.
Did read what you said above though and I do get what you're saying about quantity having its advantages.
I've always thought the 'produced by Mach' thing was purely out of ego and his emphasis on centralization. I assume his input is similar to that of billy woods'. For instance, woods' gave the sample for Red Dust to Kenny Segal, or suggested to Alc that they combine those two beats for Giraffe Hunts and have them switch back and forth. And also final sequencing and selecting some audio samples/transitions. I really don't think Mach does more than that.
Still waiting for Fahim to experiment a bit. 100 projects in and he hasn't evolved his sound yet

The second Tea & Converse interview made it sound like he basically does everything but make the beat, i.e. mixing, mastering, recording, etc. which I remember seeing pooh-poohed in a previous discussion about this on here but if he’s doing all of that, if he’s the one actually seeing everything through to completion, then I feel like he can rightfully call himself the producer if he wants. It definitely comes off as an egotistical distinction for him to make but if he’s doing most of that work, f*** it.
As much as I enjoy repetitive music (I generally don’t need a rock song to have more than one or two riffs), most of these producers probably could stand to get out the loop box. More beat switches wouldn’t hurt anyone.

Some variation at least — little refrains of different chops of the sample that eventually resolve home can go a long way, a la Navy, Craven and the like
Only producer that’s really head and shoulders above the rest is August Fanon tbh

Eh, Preservation, Willie Green and Messiah Musik all have pretty serious claims to that
tbh who knows if mach cool with all those others when he don’t even wanna work with alc no mo
Wait Mach and alc are beefing? Why?

Didn’t he literally just say they don’t have any work coming out
Why read it as beef

No beef as far as we know just unlikely they’ll be working together again soon. Via Mach Q&A a couple months ago

tbh it’s just the way he was talking in that interview is why i interpret it like that but i’m prolly overthinking it as the fact that he cool with griselda now and they love alc

I hear you
But yeah, 9/10 times things that seem like shots aren't
Hopefully we get more Mach x Alc at some point..
