Jones ruined his own legacy waiting this long. If he just said said f*** it after the game fight and went into the sunset heβd be remembered much better. The whole move to heavyweight hurt his legacy, it sucks he got that pec injury and lost so much time.
Personally i thought he would have worked Tom too.
my goat
no way he ran off from another car crash lol
Just saw Jon retired lol
Great career!
Shame it ends with such an asterisk, he really didnβt have to give his haters such ammo
Now they can rest easy chirping this s*** lmao he f***ed up
I can imagine him coming back ngl

I understand wanting the Stipe "legacy" fight, and I can forgive him for forcing that over the Tom fight but what I don't understand is why he waited 7 months after beating Stipe to retire
Absolutely no point in making Tom sit out/stringing the fans along when that fight was never going to happen in the first place

Wanted the Pereira fight, realized shortly after that wasnβt going to happen
Negotiations and d*** pulling for the Aspinall fight
I figure itβs a mix of him asking for way too much and sabotaging negotiations in the beginning, and being petty and purposely dragging it along in the tail end to piss off Aspinall and the haters maybe

It's so obvious he wanted the Pereira fight to lay on him for an easy win like he did Gane too lmao, not necessarily knocking it for him but he's not slick because no chance in hell he was doing that to Tom
Idk I think I'm on the side of there not ever being any negotiations to begin with. I think that was Dana trying to save face

ariel has been saying that jon initially accepted the offer to fight tom (not signed a contract, just verbal) and then said never mind a few days later. so dana (more likely hunter) has been spending the last few months trying to get jon back. jon said a few weeks ago that he already told the ufc his plans and him saying never mind is probably what he was referring to. my guess is that they asked him to officially announce his retirement now so it's just a smoother overall process and they don't have to deal with the pr of stripping him again
Jones running from legal accountability and Tom now lmao. Why does he think running away will just get rid of car accidents lmao. Like MFers not gon notice a heavyweight champ running away lmao
my goat
theyβre saving that 30 for 30 for the series finale :chanlaff:
