Realistically we should know the next challenger on September 6th
inshallah
Aspinall and Khamzat on the same card would be nuts
No way it happens though

What makes you say that?

RDR is really the only feasible opponent for that date, they're having a #1 contender fight in 3 weeks
I guess it's not totally out of the question just doesn't seem very likely imo

i wonder if there's any pressure from espn or investors to maximize these final ppvs before the paramount deal
could push them to give it to rdr or fluffy

I wonder how much of a revenue loss that's really going to be at this point. When was the last time PPV sales were even announced? You don't even have to try to find illegal streams anymore
I guess every sale counts though so if they can squeeze a few more by stacking the remaining PPVs this year it's probably not the worst idea in the world
Let's get one last 3 title fight PPV for old times sake

i'd imagine the numbers are awful but the reason why dana started back tracking and saying ppv isn't dead is because he still has to try and sell these last few ppvs. mark shapiro can't be telling everyone it's a dead model while they're still working with espn to sell that exact model. try and stack the last few ppv cards, end the espn era with a bang and carry that momentum into paramount

4 PPVs left this year at minimum, would be sick if they could get every male champ to fight at least one more time before 2026
top half gnp seems more like the meta now than pass and control
There’s only a few guys good at gnp from half guard. It’s a great sweeping position for the bottom guy and to hit from the top you’re giving up a chance for the underhook and other wrestle ups. I think threatening subs is usually the better option to open up a pass than trying to do damage. Some guys have the Randy couture style trapping the leg in half guard to land some shots but it’s usually pretty insignificant shots.
To me the best half guard player today is Sean Brady and he’s always hunting that sub chain
I fell asleep after the Cannonier fight and had to watch the replay.
Picos boxing looked very good but Murphy made a legit perfect read. Went ortho to get that leg further and force pico to think about attacking that left side. Flashed that front kick like Leon Edwards did to Colby just to threaten him on the single leg from space and make him want to body lock. Most guys if they see that front kick either want to follow the kick back or smother them especially toward the cage and Murphy baited him to walk into that elbow
s/o Khamzat
all these mf'ers know what he's about and should've been preparing accordingly. Knowing most of these fighters they won't though.
and shout out Usman
Khamzats top pressure in side control is insane. I never seen a guy just smother them into crucifix so many times. DDP had no answer. Mfer was in crucifix longer than Jesus

Damn bro you fell asleep right before the best part
Can’t blame you tho I didn’t know if I was going to make it to the end until those KOs
Been seeing a lot of people trash the card just because of the main event. Did they not see 2 back to back spinning elbow kos
and finishes earlier in the prelims

khamzat brings in a ton of casual viewers and ddp's fanbase is honestly racist af. wrestling is boring to casuals and racists can't handle their guy getting emasculated like that with nothing to offer. it wasn't ultra exciting, but complete domination like that in a title fight is incredibly rare and i think fun to witness as a mma fan. khamzat will sub imavov or caio in 2 rounds and the "backlash" from this or whatever you wanna call it will be forgotten

My biggest takeaway from the night was most Americans are racist (in this case, closet Islamophobes). My own dad, my coworkers, you f***ing name it, everybody had an agenda.
