Never delete lmao, sometimes it just takes a step away.
I document every beat I make that has potential in a notepad file, per year.
Sometimes I go back to like 2015 and look at beats that weren't even on my 'potential' sheet and I'll find a melody that I can tighten up and repurpose.

u document the melodies? thats f***ing next level tbh
sometimes ill save my s*** to a midi file thats about it
Question for my samplers
What do you guys do when you can't find a sample/lack inspiration?
just chop up more songs. chop up songs that you like to add to the library.
if you use fl studio save those chops and then chop it up again multiple times.
put em in slice x or directwave and keep going.
that way you can pay around with s*** when you have no inspiration whatsoever
Making beats is my only hobby and rn I'm so burnt
Bout to make overly complicated piano melodies till I fall asleep
Damn it's mad ppl making fire ass beats lmao
Them redda type beats always hit with the alien hi hat rolls and eerie synths
Like God damn these dudes is spazzing
I see so many producers who are so creative with the plugins they use and the daw usage etc technical s*** but their melodies don't hit
got a label deal on the table but my anxiety is going ham, I cant think straight
worst time to give up smoking.
edit: I'm doing it

congrats fam, best of luck
what kind of deal?
hate when people have a synth section of their preset library an its jus more leads
i need poly synth sounds not leads
im tryna mix w/o a limiter on the master
how u get loud w/o clipping? i tried a soft clipper but it sounds horrible

Just about your levels
Everything is relative
Mix everything else lower

ig i need a maximizer or limiter on the master once everything is leveled properly, so make sure its not clipping then slap something on to make everything louder

That’s gonna be done in mastering for the most part but you can add a limiter too
Just try to keep like 3db of headroom before you put the limiter on
Also don’t forget to make sure that all your audio is gainstaged correctly that’s gonna help you out a lot

thxs fam this is rly helpful advice
for the 3db headroom part is that true for kicks too? its tough making a kick punchy/stand out without clipping

yeah the 3db headroom is for the whole track
but also honestly not everybody follows it and does fine but ik that mastering engineers ask for it
i had just seen a video yesterday about this dude explaining how he clips on purpose to get a certain sound but just does it on certain occasions tho
just make sure that your levels are all good and proportionate and you should be fine
also a trick to get your drums to hit harder is using the waves r vox plugin on them
throw it on your drum bus or whatever you wanna throw it on and compress it to where it needs to be and then throw on the built in gate and theyll hit real nice
