This snare sounds so familiar but I can’t remember what it’s called. Thought it came from Boi 1da kits but can’t find it

Any one know what it is?

Anyone own an MPK or MPC? And why you chose one over the other?

    And is it needed?

Was gonna go with an Akai MPK but I’m not sure now

Depends on what u do and what your work flow is

My MPC is the workhorse in my studio. What are you tryna do w it? Use it as a controller or utilize the software?

    Not sure

I bought a MacBook Pro recently and I was thinking of going with Logic Pro as my software of choice (or maybe Ableton, not sure)

And idk I want to be able to make beats / do music production with software only if I want to but also use an MPK / MPC if I wanted to make something up on there or utilize both

But I’m not sure if an MPK / MPC is NEEDED if I’m just starting out. And if so, which one would be better

the MPC is a little heavier of an investment, time + $$$ wise but will be more than worth it in the end. the MPC also works incredibly well with Ableton which is dope.

i'd recommend the MPK + Ableton for what you described if you're just starting out. it's a lot more straight forward just interfacing it with your DAW and it will give you a lot more creative control without having to dive deep into the workflow of the MPC. the MPK mini is perfect for beginners, 25 keys and 8 pads is all you really need.

also i def cosign Ableton over Logic Pro any day of the week. hope this helps bro! here to answer any more questions you may have as well

for years ive been complimented on my mixing, but the main criticism i was given was my songs weren't all that loud. Which i was aware of. I never knew how to make my s*** loud.

turns out... i was using 1 limiter instead of 2.
i just did the two limiter method on the track im currently working on and compared it to the same track with 1 limiter

    night and f***ing day difference.

i went almost an entire decade without knowing how to do this s***

first limiter crunches (at a low volume: ~6-8db)

second limiter brings it up to 0db
