tips on making drum loops? my s*** always comes out off tempo wise rarely flows smoothly.

do you know how to count music. like 1 2 3 4

depending on the tempo ur clap / snare will hit on 3 or 2 & 4.
but really its just half time / double time .

or just drop your favorite beat into your daw and look where they put their drums

use a reference track if you're programming it

If you're recording live, just jam for like a minute and then chop out the parts that don't sound like s*** and sequence them

i think my problem was i was trying to make a 8 bar drum loop fit a 4 bar strings loop? like i combined two 4 bar loops for the strings, but tried to make a 8 bar drum loop straight. when i split it into two 4 bar drum loops it worked. but i feel like that shouldn’t matter regardless.

If you’re playing your drums make sure you got the metronome on to stay on beat
