How long did it take you to get comfortable with the ASR-10?
How long did it take you to get comfortable with the ASR-10?
It was just more tedious than uncomfortable.
I was real young this was my pops modest home studio. This was back when niggas had to get the cd with whatever specific song you wanted to sample, put it in the computer, play and record through pro tools to get to the floppy disk inserted and then put in the asr-10.
The biggest thing is it taught niggas how to chop chop samples up due to the doing it on a keyboard as opposed to an mpc (as a pianist since i was 8, this is a way better workflow for me)
So now decades later having an actual midi keyboard and just chopping s*** using dj apps and the exs24 in logic, s***’s gucci

You’re really an OG
That sounds like it was overall rewarding given that you were learning how to chop and familiarizing yourself with keys in the process

Listen i turn 29 tmmr, the fact this has been the best and most productive year of my life, I can’t wait to turn 30
It definitely did help.
Also think it also helps to know music theory too in general

Love to hear that bro
You’re only 3 years older than me lol
I think it was hearing about the floppies that threw me for a loop.
Speaking of theory (Damn unrelated but related) I’ve always had some trouble merging my samples with some chords I’m laying down even when I know the key of the sample. Any tips or tricks?

Figure out if the sample is major or minor thats the major key.
Extensions YMMV
