Navy has talked about his relationships with his Mom, father, grandmother, his girl (ex), and his homie that passed away which were some of the reason why he was in deep depression. These were reoccuring themes in his projects on SoundCloud

how did navy play it safe on this album
The production and lyrics are very safe and nothing out of the norm for Sage these past 4 (possibly 7) projects. I'm not looking for crazy punchlines or some wild rock/electronic/jazz production. But something at least memorable.

And I can argue this the most hopeful he’s ever sounded on a navy blue project. He’s covering the same topics but he’s approaching from a place of hope and not over-engulfing sorrow like the last few projects

Im not familiar with budgie but if this his type of production im with it. Navy on actual production and not loops is fire.
