There’s a lot more factors other than talent though on why players get paid max even if they aren’t the best
yeah that factor is the artificial price ceiling imposed by the CBA
Hunter has a higher defensive ceiling..
all that bread just to get beat out the 8th seed by my bulls ...
NBA actually has a lot of talent the way the league works just dumb
Nba tried with the supermax but some of these guys would rather win cuz not winning has such a negative connotation.
you have enormously talented players like Westbrook being treated like a step child cause he's on big money
like its terrible for the product if the most economical thing for teams to do is dump his contract on some s***ty franchise that's actively trying to lose
Like if the bucks were a perennial 35-45 win team I wouldn’t blame Giannis at all. That’s not the case tho ofc

supermax is just another distortion to prop up small markets
it's the opposite sort of reform the league needs

Might as well be, y'all accomplishing just as much as the 35 win teams in the end

What would you change though
NBA actually has a lot of talent the way the league works just dumb
Yep theres 1 good player on every team just about
But its so top heavy lol only 2-3 teams can realistically win per year
so what’s ur suggestion
reconceiving the waive and stretch provision might be something cause rn there's almost no cap incentive for teams to use it
a lot of the CBA is protecting the pockets of owners masquerading as protecting parity imo

like if
the team wants out of the contract
the player wants out of the contract
all other teams would value that player's services on lower wages
the fans want to watch him play meaningful basketball
then the machinery of the league shouldn't prevent all the involved parties from getting what they want
rn it does

Amnesty clause soon come
Amnesty clause soon come
been said i wanted this back, didn't realize til just now its being discussed
should be some stipulations so the wealthier owners don't just abuse it tho
