reliance on nostalgia over character building and expanding the universe
the most interesting character in that film is a droid and the entire film exist to explain a throwaway line of dialogue from the original trilogy. It doesn't deepen the lore in any meaningful way and is essentially It's the most expensive fan film ever.
the soulless resurrection of Peter Cushing perfectly represents the film and Disney's original SW "spin-off" plans.
Disney did a terrible job with the films because they worried about catering to 40+ year old men instead of a new generation of fans. If it wasn't for the Mandalorian then live-action Star Wars properties would be dead in the water for at least another decade.
