There was no out pouring of support, he was SEC Defensive player of the year yet he fell all the way too the 8th round when a player at the exact same position, from the exact same team, who won the exact same award literally goes in the 1st the very next year meanwhile, Sam was out of the league in literally a year

First of all, there aren't 8 rounds in the NFL draft. Second, Michael Sam was horribly undersized for his position at 6'2 260. He had no clear path to playing time because A) he wasn't an elite athlete, B) he was joining a stacked position group, and C) he didn't play special teams. Third, a player from Missouri does not win SEC DPOY every year. And last, college awards and accolades are probably the worst predictor of NFL success you can find.
