Yeah it’s weird that they didn’t even bother mentioning the NS2 features in the Direct when they pointed out that the compilation is indeed compatible with the newest system.

Seems like a no-brainer to try to get people to upgrade to your newest flagship product :mariolaptop:

I think since the NS2 upgrades are delivered via a free update then it makes sense to keep the compilation purely as a Switch 1 title (as opposed to 'NS2 Edition' games).

I believe it boiled down to these two reasons:
1. People had high expectations for the first post-NS2 launch general Direct
2. Nintendo overpricing too much ($70 Galaxy collection, $100 Virtual Boy accessory, $50 Kirby amiibo, $20 Bananza DLC, $30 Z-A DLC)

There has never been a well received direct. Actually, there has never been a well received game show. People want every announcement to cater to their very specific tastes, disregarding there are other thousands of people with this same mindset making the ordeal impossible for any company

That I can understand for sure but getting pokemon kirby and MP4 before end of year is solid. That DK and Pokémon DLC is pathetic

I thought the last State of Play was the best gaming presentation I’ve seen all year (and let’s face it, SOPs have always been ass), so colour me surprised when I saw reactions of people being unimpressed by it..

Tbf we already knew we’re getting those games this year.
Personally-speaking, the new announcements for early 2026 and spring 2026 weren’t really that hype tbh (Mario Tennis, Yoshi, Tomodachi Life (okay this one actually looks promising))

As a FE fan, I was thrilled by the new-game reveal, but that IP just doesn’t resonate as much as the other Nintendo heavy hitters unfortunately.

I wouldnt go that far but i really liked it too. There was a new suda51 game announcement ffs it couldnt have been anything but great.
But yeah, going forward assume a gaming showcase to be hated, it happens every single time with no exception. It's become cliché to say but people be negative af all the time on the internet, idk why and idk how they don't get exhausted by It.

How can you be interested in this hobby when you got that much hatred for it in you, and most of the time it isnt even warranted lol

this was the anniversary direct for Mario. I see no 3D Mario. the rest was ok. A lot of games but no real bangers (aside from MP4 but that's sadly more niche). A new console needs that.
