For a 2d metroid game being too long actually hurts it, and i say this as a huge fan. 10-20 hours for a 2021 metroid game is the perfect length and im glad they didnt just copy hollow knight, cause while i think that game is great, 30 hours to beat a 2d metroidvania imo is too much. Ruins replayability and makes finding collectables a chore at a certain point

Also eurogamer reviewer spent 6 hours to beat the final boss it took me less to beat isshin how difficult is it

Silly question to ask but I’m going to ask regardless. Is it going to be extremely difficult to try to find the OLED model in-store compared to say, PS5 and Xbox consoles? I only play handheld and I feel like the upgrade is worth it for me. Wanna trade my old switch in towards it.

Its a difficult question to answer. It depends on where you live, and the oled comes out on friday so there's no way to know if its available in stores until then i think

Im glad reviewers are becoming harsher with game scores but would've loved to see dread reach that 90 mc score. Oh well, still a great score and hope it sells great!!

  • Beyond hyped for Dread

  • Oct 6, 2021

Had the unscored reviews been scored this would've been a 90 easily, glad samus is back in full force

Still way way higher than all the other games that dropped today like far cry 6 and Nickelodeon all stars brawl

also this year hasn’t been that crazy for games so that’s really high for 2021

    1. Psychonauts 2 (91)
    2. Chicory (90)
    3. It takes Two (89)
    4. Metroid (88)
    4. Deathloop (88)
    4. Ratchet & Clank (88)
    4. Monster Hunter Rise (88)

Yeah its not a big deal 88 is still a great score. I normally dont care for review scores but in videogames they can be a factor in decision making when buying a game so the higher it reviews the better it is for a game, and metroid needs all the sales it can get

My Switch been collecting dust for like two-three months. The SD card is bugging, the controller is drifting, Switch OLED not convincing, so I'm not in a hurry to cop anything in the coming months. Will probably have to hold off on Metroid Dread as well cus I'm not ready to put money on yet another controller on top of an SD card unless it's BotW2, Switch Pro or another IP that is more dear to my heart. N64 games coming this month, so that'll be enough for now if my controller stops drifting for a minute.

Mine been gathering dust cus I haven't had much to play lately and the one game I do play pretty often runs like poop on Switch (Fortnite). For this reason I bought an Xbox Series S which I've been playing some games on instead (Fortnite, NieR:Automata, Tomb Raider). If Nintendo had given me a Switch Pro by now I would probably not have copped the Series S. When they revealed the OLED model I was like welp, no Pro for a while then so I'll just get a Series S and play some Fortnite and third party games in good quality instead.

I have played with the idea of perhaps getting it to treat myself a new toy and let my siblings have my OG Switch earlier but I was never really convinced about the product itself and what it offers. I haven’t been ‘planning’ to get it, so at this point the answer is no, I’m probably not going to get it and I’d rather just wait for a more powerful Switch. I’ve been wanting a more powerful Switch for a while, and the OLED ain’t it. If I do get it after all, it’d be on a whim because I’m at the mall and see it in stock and be like “I’ll just treat myself today”, but it’s absolutely not a purchase I’ve been planning to make. Are you getting it?

Yeah I’m probably not gonna get the OLED model. I have my OG Switch from a month after launch and it still works great and I’ve taken care of it for the most part. OLED isn’t worth a $350 upgrade IMO
