Kids these days don't realize how pointless Kart feels now compared to the first two when items were way less lethal. Actually required skill.
You can turn specific items off, jumps boosts, proximity boosts and shortcuts all require more skill now.
And that game literally had special hazard items for each character that were complete bs. S*** was not evenly balanced.
You're entitled to your opinion but imo MK8 is leagues ahead of "the first two" (which is really SNES and n64 but ok)
Don't sleep on Bayonetta Origins yall. It's like a top down Zelda game, great combat amazing art an actual good story and one of the best OSTs of the year. Stuffed full of content too. It's one of the best games on Switch.
You got me interested. Will definitely keep it on my mind, glad the artstyle isnt the only thing its got going for it, although being a Platinum game i shouldve known better

I was referring to those first two not Double Dash
Idk mk8 feels totally pointless thanks to the weapons and the way you float around the track. Doesn't feel even 1/10 as tight as the first two, control wise.

I haven't karted in a minute but it seemed to me that the skill curve was pretty pronounced, meaning if you got someone ranked highly (like in the 10,000s) in a group with people who have put a lot of time in but are more mid (say for example, people in the 6000 range), that 10k guy would get out to a huge lead and keep it and run away with 1st place in every match. You can get so good at this game that you become annoyingly good at it. Playing in 10k+ matches makes it hard as hell to compete because everyone is so good.
So to me, I haven't seen items being a problem. Really good players will still win.

Try the demo out, its the first 90 minutes of the game and it starts pretty slow so keep that in mind. By the end of the demo you'll get a good feel for the flow, though you'll still be missing mechanics and the skill tree and stuff. Save data transfers over to the full game if you decide to pick it up!

Never played anything online I just slowly gave up on playing with friends cause it felt so sloppy compared to the old ones with each new iteration

fair enough but I'm tellin ya, it's a game of skill. and yea sometimes you'll get 4 straight red shells sent your way and there's nothing you can do about it but get capped, but if there's a significant skill difference then the better player will win 9 times out of 10.
and as someone else already said, if you're playing with friends it lets you customize the items so you can set it up to your liking.
IMO there's no perfect item distribution so there will always be something to complain about, but I love the MK8 engine and mechanics. I think it's the best yet in terms of gameplay.

Mariokart 64 might the most played game of my life and just nothing ever felt as tight and fast as DK Jungle on 150cc
Also Koopa Troopa Beach with the cheat ramp
Nintendo would have to be complete imbeciles to ruin their next console, almost every IP they own is beginning to gain notoriety, and with the upgrades it's damn near impossible to fail.

thank god nintendo is not known for following up smash hit consoles with absolute duds
fr though all they need to do is make a more powerful switch and they can continue to print money, it’s that simple

Only saying in the context of reaching a wider audience and a new generation. Lesser known IP such as Metroid and Star Fox in comparison to Mario and Zelda.

And it's only going to get higher from this point, Prime 4 going diamond

Tbh if Metroid prime 4 gets like a 95 metacritic and the level of marketing even dread got, it could easily sell like 5+ million copies. Metroid prime remastered was already a slam dunk so even more people will keep an eye on mp4 and contrary to dread its a 3d fps so more accessible by default
