Millennials, also known as Generation Y (or simply Gen Y), are the demographic cohort following Generation X and preceding Generation Z. Researchers and popular media use the early 1980s as starting birth years and the mid-1990s to early 2000s as ending birth years, with 1981 to 1996 a widely accepted defining range for the generation

You got any advice for an 18 year old
yep, but reminder to use the advice to formulate your own decisions, what works for some may not work for others!
if you do decide to go to college/haven’t went to college yet, an absolutely great option is to go to a 2 year community college first, then transfer to a 4 year university to finish out. you will save a lot of money that way
dont be afraid to explore your passions during this time. a lot of people will try pushing career paths on you, but you are still so young. find out what truly interests you / what your passions are. explore any and everything that peaks your interest
try not to get hung up on a girl and enjoy all the time you can with your friends, they may not be around anymore as you get older. people grow apart. cherish who you have now and make memories you will enjoy in the future!
cherish all the time you spend with your family now. as you get older, you will inevitably drift apart as you become less and less dependent on them. play that board game your family asks you to play with them. eat family dinner and try not rush away from the table once in awhile
if you do come across large sums of money (financial aid refund, graduation money, etc), try to put at least some away in a savings account. you will thank yourself later. you will be able to use it for moving fees when you leave your families house/have cushion to alleviate the shock of bills, for example
if you do get a credit card, resist the urge to run it up. it’s very easy to do, and if you can’t pay off the debt, your credit will be shot before you even get the chance to use it for adult purchases. it takes a lot of time to repair credit
try not to just abandon a job without a two week notice, even if it’s just a random retail job. you will want a job that can supply you with a good reference when you start looking for a new one. some jobs even require background checks (banks for example), and it will help your application even more if you left your jobs on good terms
i probably have some more in my head, cause honestly there’s a lot that could be useful as your grow up through your 20s, but these are the most important ones imo
Damn I got on KTT at 18 and felt like a younging, I'm 26 now and a certified old head
I got on when I was 17
Finally after years of lurking on here + ktt, decided to make an account. Only a year and half until I hit 30 though so maybe I'm too late to join? Lol

Lol yeah I turned 28 this summer.
Honestly I love/hate it. I love it because as I get older, I feel like I'm starting to figure out who I am/want to be + people start to respect you more as you get older 😂. Also dealing with depression and anxiety in my early 20s, I see every extra year I live as a gift. I do hate that I don't understand some of the popular trends + I can't eat fast food like I used to lmao. That s*** be doing bboy dance moves in my digestive system

Old Head Thread kinda degrading
can we make it the millennial thread @hotpancakes
Im 22, 23 in December, and have had some major setbacks I feel like have made me not connect with people my age :(. Could be the stigma surrounding one of them and im in college so its hard. Feel old as f***. Friends I thought would be there haven't in this time I need major support. Feel like I only talk to my family deeply.

i feel this way too.
i moved away from a lot of my friends and they all got closer while i got further apart.
it’s hard for me to meet anyone new with covid, and at my current job it’s just me and my manager so i rarely interact with anyone but my gf
it sucks
28 checking in and i can appreciate from first hand experience i like the collaborative efforts happening between gen y and z. it's a good synergy to take into account and it's fye.
