This definitely is only true for people in the online sphere. You're vastly underestimating what the biggest voting block (middle aged/boomers, esp. in swing states) prioritize and where their voting habits lie. Republicans could literally vote to send a nuclear bomb down on california and you can be sure boomers would still vote for them so long as primary issues are housing prices, gas prices, tax, inflation etc. coupled next to the ability for radio & media hosts to say "the left has gone crazy on social issues!"

according to opinion polling DeSantis has only gone up and up basically, at least for his target demographic.

Important to note they designed the law to not pass until after the governors election.
