balanced budget amendment i'm sure that's not ripe for manipulation otherwise not as much of a doomsday thing as i would have thought

Nobody wants a "balanced budget", the government can't operate without a guarantee it can pull a deficit. It's just a dogwhistly for austerity and gutting public goods

I don't disagree, I'm just saying it's way more mild of a proposal than I would have thought

Yeah it almost sounds innocuous. I havent looked into this ALEC organisation's but they certainly have more in their plans. I'm thinking an attempt to block any progressive federal policy like higher minimum wage or free college or whatever
