Corps should have a massive amount of cash to survive for a month or two. Any good company would have a contingency plan for a three month period. Even then, corps should be heavily monitored and restricted in who receives it and transparent in how they use the bailout money. 20+ years of business should give enough time to develop good business practices in any case, but history has shown that bailouts just give excuses for corporations and minimal help to the workers.
