Well although that is my fear I also have 0 idea to navigate whatever platforms are even used for these projects. I am coming from the traditional app investing side of things.

I understand. Making that leap to DeFi is not easy. If you want a place to start I'd reccomend you learn how to open a self custodial wallet and how to keep it safe. You need a wallet in order to be able to interact with these DEXs (decentralized exchanges) so you can buy these coins.

Just tried wading into the Dex waters for the first time too. Absolutely f***ed it now I got like 300 dollars in CAKE sitting around that I can't do anything with for the minute cause the Eth fees are so high.

I wanted to buy NMT, which it said is on Pancakeswap. So I set up a hot wallet, bought some USDT off a regular exchange and sent it to the wallet - intending to then swap that for NMT. F***ed up cause I didn't realise that the USDT had to be on the BNB chain to swap (I had bought it on Eth network). Pancakeswap lets you bridge CAKE between networks. So I swapped my USDT for CAKE (stuck some eth in to pay gas fee, even then not fully understanding the gas fee was higher than I thought).

Now I can stick more eth in and then do the bridge, but the gas fees are really high and I don't want to get burned paying that again just yet.

Dumb I know but it was my first time toying around with this stuff - only predominantly bought eth/btc previously off regular exchanges.

Planning to try again over the weekend cause fees should hopefully be lower everyone says. Otherwise will just let it sit. Unless there's a much easier solution I've been oblivious to..
