Idk if this sells it but here’s some more info:
kinda Dark Souls with guns. Dodging/rolling is much more forgiving with the timing. Because guns are your main weapon (you have a melee weapon too), inherently the combat is different and every boss fight comes with a bunch of adds (smaller enemies that fight you too), otherwise it would be too easy. But you can create your own unique build like dark souls and the starting classes don’t matter too much. Attributes, or “traits” are actually unlocked as you play which is really cool. You start with health, stamina, and another trait but unlock more for certain milestones, for instance if you kill 100 enemies with 10 different weapons you unlock a trait that lets you swap weapons faster as an example. There are a lot of traits and each can be upgraded to level 20.

Every map/level is procedurally generated, so nobody experiences the same outlay, however this does make the environments kinda bland. There are “bonfires” that serve as checkpoints and usually involve creating a shortcut within your level. Joining other people is cool because even if you’re ahead of them you don’t know the map. You can find other weapons and armors across levels and unique weapons/armors from bosses.

Co-op is highly encouraged, even more so than dark souls, similar 1-2 cooperators per host. Enemies scale with amount of co-operators. When you die solo you respawn at checkpoint but don’t lose anything unlike dark souls, if you are playing co-op they can revive you instead.

And the gameplay is just fun bro it works. Shooting feels good and every gun has a different feel

Only thing that kinda irritates me is that ammo is insanely scarce and there's a lot of stealth. Other than that it's solid

If anyone likes soulslike games you should check out Mortal Shell, the ps5 version just dropped and its even better. Surprisingly good indie game just hate you can't transfer saves from ps4 to ps5 edition

Oh btw a crazy thing is that there can be different bosses for an area for you vs someone else so it’s worth it to help someone online because they might have a different boss you didn’t fight
