We had so many good multiplayer games on the PS3, now all we get is single players games. You need diversity

MAG was so ahead of its time, Killzone, Resistance, TLOU multiplayer (we still haven't heard s*** about factions), SOCOM, I mean there's s*** there they can use already. Least Xbox has Halo, what is Playstations premiere Multiplayer game? It doesn't exist

Aint even know it was on every platform, all I know is that there are a lot of fighting games on Sony consoles that aren't available on Xbox. But yeah you're right, Sony aint really making any multiplayer games rn

before Xbox decided to bring back Fable and Perfect Dark i was hoping for them to bring those titles back - as well as RARE franchises but i guess we will see what Everwild is like

this isnt a Sony issue its an industry issue, they remade/remastered so many games while simultaneously abandoning some of the coolest and most original ideas from time

I mean most people aren’t really asking for exclusive mp games. The demand isn’t there, why want an mp exclusive when Warzone/Fortnite/Apex Legends/Overwatch/Valorant exist

They’re mostly available on all platforms and that’s a good thing, exclusive mp games won’t do as well as Warzone or Fortnite

How is the demand not there, make a quality game and people will play it. It'd be like saying why make a new Halo when x, y, and z exist already. There wasn't a demand for a roguelike game, but they still made Returnal which ain't even sell too crazy compared to God Of Wars or TLOU. Days Gone another example and everyone was fatigued on zombies at the time.

If they can make those then they can just as easily put money into making a multiplayer game. Since they seem to care so much about a profit these days, then with multiplayer games you get the chance to make way more money than you can just from selling a SP game off microtransactions and s***. Just look at Rockstar, sports games, all the BRs make a f*** load of money off multiplayer.

They might make a profit sure but it has to be worth it, might make a profit or just making a small profit isn’t enough. They would rather make something they know will do good.

Halo isn’t just a mp game, but yeah, the mp is not doing Fortnite/Warzone or even Apex Legends numbers.

Returnal wasn’t made by Sony, they bought the studio that made it after the game released though

What makes a singleplayer game more worth it than a multiplayer game is my point. All the highest grossing games in the market feature multiplayer or are mobile games, not single player games.

Off that alone it should be worth it to make a multiplayer game lol since you're gonna make way more than you would with any singleplayer game they have.

Only what three games there don't have online? Sims(Bunch of DLC), Doom Eternal, and Cyberpunk.

Now when we look at the top selling games of 2020 from NPD, only 7/20 on the list are experience that have no online multiplayer. A multiplayer game could clearly be very profitable man that ain't a good excuse for playstation not making one

idk but it feels like Sony probably made the deal that if Returnal was well received they’d buy the studio, it was launched as a “ps studios” title even before they announced the acquisition

But 99% of 1st parties were 3rd parties at one time so it’s a moot point

All of those games with the exception of Animal Crossing are multiplat, i’m not saying mp games are bad or wouldn’t make them money, i’m just saying an exclusive mp game is not worth making, to do these kinds of numbers you need to be multiplat. It’s just not worth it in their eyes and mine too

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was top 10 in top selling, Smash Bros was #14, if Nintendo of all companies can be that successful with their exclusives then Sony could definitely do the same with a multiplayer game.

And depending on the kind of game it is, the sky is the limit when it comes to cosmetics and other microtransactions that could rake in profits. Sure it won't rack in Warzone numbers, but when you're only on 1 platform you don't need to rake in Warzone numbers lol. You just need great numbers for that one platform, and the way things been going recently with Playstation I wouldn't even care if they put a MP game on PC same time as PS5.

You can't even say they need to be multiplat either when Nintendo proves that wrong with Mario Kart and Smash

And Sony already had 4 games in the top selling of 2020 that are exclusives and singleplayers games (besides MLB THE SHOW) which didn't go multiplat until this year with The Show 21.

So if the exclusive singleplayer games can be that successful then so could an exclusive multiplayer game, with an ever bigger margin for profit and what it can gross overall.

Man, Nintendo is different, the Switch, to a lot of people is only used as a console to play nintendo first party games. Nintendo games will always sell. Also Nintendo IPs are some of the most popular ips in gaming.
