Currently they're producing consoles at a rate that is lower than what the current demand is, that is the same with the Xbox series X which is why it's impossible to judge which is doing "worse" or "better", on paper it looks like the PS5 is because overall Sony has been able to produce more supply but hell who knows if Microsoft was able manufacture as much as Sony are they might be doing just as well.

At the very least they're both certainly doing well which is a good thing! A market in which only one console is doing well is disastrous.

Sony shouldve offered a Series S type of console

microsoft is playing a completely different game, by targeting low end (series s) mid end (series x) and high end (gaming pc) they can really push gamepass, the real money maker. And it's working out well for them. The reason theres so many series s's is cause they easier to produce. Not to mention they're super cheap and targeted towards the casual crowd.

...but ps5 is still selling more and would even sell more if there wasnt a chip shortage. The hype is just that real with the ps5
