Nah, I actually decided to finished up the last two games in the Utawarerumono trilogy after I finished Higurashi. F***ing fantastic VN/JRPG series man, holy hell. Easily had one of my favorite all time endings. Felt depressed for the rest of the day after I finished it

Yeah man, big time. I was going through the second one (Mask of Deception) and thinking "ok this is pretty good, but I'm not really seeing why it gets praised so much", and then I got f***ing sucker punched by an 11/10 ending. I immediately downloaded the final game and was HOOKED on that all last week. Final game was fantastic all around, and the ending was just perfect, man.

Gameplay (and especially the writing) in the first one definitely wasn't amazing, but it got better in the next two games. Gonna chalk it up to the first game being released in like 2002, then the next two releasing in mid/late 2010s. My ass still used Cheat Engine though

The final game is top 5 on vndb, and I can definitely see why now lol. Not super long reads either. iirc, first game took me like 20~ hours with me spending a few of those farming to make the fights easier. 2nd took me like 25, and 3rd was like 30 or so.

That sounds great yet another vn I need to play soon.

That's a fair statement to make These games are pretty heavy on slice of life, so if you like that, you're set. Haku (the protagonist in the second and third game) is such a good character too man. Finishing it all up makes me even more sad because Haku's voice actor died a couple years back

Also, would not recommend looking at the Steam page of Mask of Truth since it spoils the end of the previous game in the summary lol.

Payout is still pretty ass and after beating everything there’s not much to do besides online races but that’s not that great because payouts ass

I have all the difficult trophies needed to platinum but can’t because someone thought it was cool to put a trophy in this game that cost $200 USD

It’s gonna take me literal weeks to grind to get that trophy
