Sony vs MS:Endgame is coming up. MS is gonna kill the idea of exclusives and make everything about owning studios/IPs, and making profit from them. Sony is either gonna have to keep up by buying studios themselves, or get back in there bag and get creative with original ideas.

MS can literally kill PS brand if games like Fallout 5, Elder Scrolls 6, new Halo and other IPs are held by them, and on Xbox/PC, while they give PS scrapes that aren't expected to move anything like High On Life. If Sony can't give MS anything good in return, MS is gonna keep the good s*** to themselves. I don't think Playstation can survive next gen by being a Last Of Us/Marvel machine, they need creative/new IPs, badly.

Next gen is really kill or be killed, MS wanting exclusives dead is not a peace treaty, its the final battle in the war.

There is no war anymore, that war has ended already. The only threat to PlayStation is PlayStation themselves, ie: jim ryan.

MS wanting to get rid of their own exclusives is of zero threat to Nintendo or PS. It makes them no different than EA or Take Two, a third party publisher, aka no longer a competitor.

I'll say this though, if Sony is the unquestionable leader in console gaming, we should be seeing more variety from their first party studios. Maybe their in some type of rebuilding phase right now, since the gaming landscape is being shook up right now. I just thought MS was suppose to be swallowing the gaming industry whole

Microsoft is bigger than just whatever they have going on in the gaming sector and they've already had the heads of MS wanting to get rid of the gaming side before in the past. Their trending direction is to wind up third party seemingly and rumored to go like an alienware of sorts. With hardware just being a glorified PC tower essentially.

They have their bread and butter same way Nintendo has it's bread and butter games. They got new stuff in development granted dev cycles probably got thrown for a loop with the live service push and then retraction.

Microsoft can't swallow up anything without monopoly talk and they already had a hard enough time with the FTC and other organizations on their ass during the activision blizzard purchase

Yea, I've heard the stories about MS itself wanting to get rid of Xbox. Seems like they were left with no choice but to remix their business model, or they'd be the ones out of gaming. The only reason I made that last post was cause I thought MS was coming in to help Team Xbox and basically buy up a bunch of medium level studios for gamepass.

Honestly, that'd be irresponsible as s*** on MS behalf(with gaming development budgets ballooning as we speak), and just like you said, an FTC violation. An Xbox becoming custom hardware could be a great niche for consoles(and basically bring everything full circle with the OG Xbox, since that console was a modding monster)making the custom PC market fairly priced and creating a logical form factor for living rooms could be dope.
