Not exactly. Marvel approached Sony to do a game and Sony let Insomniac choose a character and they chose Spider-Man. If you apply that logic then Iron Man should be exclusive because of Iron Man VR. The movie and video game rights are separate. Yeah you're right, they're just video game characters but people are throwing a fit because they haven't had a Spidey game on Xbox since the abomination that was Amazing Spider-Man 2

Thanks for clarifying! I always hear about spidey media rights being owned by Sony so I wasn’t sure how that all fit in. I guess that sucks for Xbox “fans” but I guess it’s a shame that there’s so much negativity surrounding this to the point that people are saying they’ll boycott the game. I grew up being able to afford one console per generation (max) so I’m used to missing out on certain s*** and getting over it and it made it hard for me to see why others are so upset over this
