I think the consensus is don't do it with either Spider-man game or with an external HDD attached. obviously it's only a minority that's had these problems but better safe than sorry

I’ve used rest mode for a week now, no issues.

Just close any open game before you put it in rest mode.

Yeah mine does have an optical port, so I guess that's what I'll do; run the optical from the speakers to the TV and run the HDMI from the PS5 to the TV
