Fritz might need to call Agassi up after this weekend and ask him to be a permanent part of his team lmao yeah Laver Cup is just an exho, but that was a great performance against Carlos, Andre might just be able to give him that something extra to help him beat the top 2
Gauff might be the most hot and cold top tennis player ever lmao she can lose a match 0-6 1-6 serving 10 double faults looking completely out of form, then the next week she’ll win the tournament without losing a set, she has both a very high ceiling and very low floor

17 double faults against Pegula
Rybakina did nothing all year and then just casually won the WTA finals without losing a match
the run she went on for this indoor stretch was peak tennis, would be great if she can actually produce this level of tennis consistently over an entire year

thats why women tennis is 10x more interesting then mens rn. anyone can win any tournament. anybody can have a mental breakdown. upsets happen all the time to the top 10. random beefs constantly. stories like that mboko out of nowhere, etc.
mens its just a 14 day wait to see inevitable sinner v alcaraz final (which aren't even that fun to watch imo due to them nonstop gushing about each other in the media), or see which of those 2 gets the honor of beating Djokovic.

agree 100% mens tennis is in an awful place atm sounds crazy to say it bc Sinner vs Alcaraz is the peak of the sport rn, but they need to actually have ppl to challenge them along the way, watching them both lose like 2 sets in the entire tournament before meeting each other in the final is so boring, especially when there’s a chance their final will also be boring as we saw in NY. And yeah they need a Djoker type 3rd in more ways than one, the constant praising and gushing between them is a bit much lmao i want mind games and drama in the rivalry,
Women’s tennis is the complete opposite rn, it’s got multiple consistent names like iga, sabalenka, coco, anisimova, pegula etc.. and also bubbling volcanos like andreeva & rybakina etc.. that make the second week of a slam so exciting to watch with toss up matches, and they all have different personalities too. the men’s second week is a complete dud lmao think i read this is the first time ever that there’s been no matches that’ve gone to 5 in the second week of any of the 4 slams, which sums it up really.

aryna doesn’t respect any of her main rivals and i love it, she can’t even fake it

The drama is great truly like multiple times a year you have someone like sabalenka or gauff or iga just mentally destroyed crying or smashing racquets and then they rebuild and bounce back.
And you know in women’s tennis like in any first or second round slam match, several top seeds are going to lose. Can’t predict that someone like keys is going to win a slam or iga is going to make her worse surface her best all of a sudden.
Not sure how men’s tennis solves the problem tbh but a good start would be if Carlos and sinner didn’t share private jets to tournaments imo.
Need Carlos to take sinners girl or some s*** this is getting ridiculous. They’re doing so much PR about their friendship idk why even. Rafa and Fed had respect but didn’t do media tours every tournament to praise each other.

man it’s so awful
It’s so weird that this is the angle their PR teams want to push for the literal only rivalry in men’s tennis atm, it’s like “Fedal” on steroids, but Roger & Rafa weren’t actually this friendly during their peaks. I remember when Sinner came back from his three-month ban, he made a point of saying he’d learned to separate his actual friends on tour from his “colleagues,” based on who contacted him. He said Carlos was one of the people who didn’t reach out, and I thought that would be the moment they stopped the forced “bromance narrative”, but no it’s actually gotten worse since then
what happened to my sport man đź’”
https://twitter.com/jsinnertruth/status/1988552555043991880Embarrassing. But look judging by them adding more masters tournaments when they can’t even manage like the us open hard court swing properly, tennis is being run by stupid execs.

the entire sport is a mess rn, they keep making the wrong kind of changes, just read that they’re considering giving top players 2 byes at masters now instead of just one, it’s like they’re committed to finding new ways to make things worse
will be interesting watching the same players that have been ranting abt the schedule being too packed run to $audi to play a 10th masters event that isn’t even mandatory tho

Yeah really odd choices. We might look back at this era of Carlos/sinner and think wow yeah they each won 30 majors that’s crazy, but then think ok how many tournaments and matches were actually on the level of fed/rafa/djok
especially all earlier rounds.
And yeah masters tournaments, idk what their strategy is here - they might force players to go make a Saudi league like golf.
Alcaraz vs Sinner for the ATP Finals championship tomorrow..
What a surprise
Jk imma enjoy watching it
But yeah it’s ridiculous how the rest of the ATP can’t keep up with them..
Another important match in the Sinner Alcaraz rivalry, all the cards are in Sinner’s favour - his country, his favourite surface, he’s the defending champ etc… losing to Alcaraz here would be pretty bleak for their rivalry, would mean Alcaraz has won their latest match on every single surface outside of grass, Sinner would be 1-9 in their matches since they became the Top 2, lots of pressure on Jannik
very important win for Jannik, he celebrated that championship point more than he’s celebrated his slam wins lol
