The score represents a taste caliber rather than actual enjoyability. This person is a music snob, he wants his taste to be too out of the box for the average consumer. The further from center the better to exude his superior taste

Like art galleries that only showcase high art. It insinuates to anybody who hears you frequent that place you have taste in art that exceeds those of the average consumer. A snob wants you to feel alienated, not enjoy the things you enjoy as well and he’s an extreme version of such a snob. He’s just good a interpreting what he hears and verbalizing his “opinions”
