dont rly feel like making a whole new thread for this but has anyone else seen the band sprain's recent breakup? i was rly into their album and it seems off to disband so suddenly

They have an ep and 2 albums, all of which are different stylistically. If you’re into the more traditional slowcore sound with hushed vocals and guitar lines then the EP is worth a listen, tho I think the band kind of disowned it since it wasn’t their true vision

Their debut album is where they start to get a lot noisier, and it’s pretty much just pure unwound worship in terms of the guitar playing and vocals. I really love ‘worship house’ and ‘everything’ off it, but it def wears its influences on its sleeve

The album that came out this year is much more refined and sprawling, and combines its influences in a rly interesting way. Some of the tracks remind me of later era swans, unwound, and xiu xiu but with more verbose lyrics. I’d def recommend checking out this one if you’re into harsher sounding music and can sit with lengthier tracks. I rly loved the production and lyrics on this

Do you know why the band broke up?

im not entirely sure but to me, the lead singer seemed very insecure about the band and its music so it just imploded. from the few interviews i've seen it looked like he wasn't in a good place mentally, and it probably didn't help that the live performances were also quite taxing.

the other co-founding member was also kicked out a couple weeks before the bands official disbandment for no reason, so i honestly just assume the lead guy didnt want to do it anymore
