Damn, I'm still finishing working on my Citi card for 70,000 miles. I don't like to try to juggle more than two cards at a time lol.

yeah you doing it right, this the way to go though. You can have your travel be free pretty much.

Japan is fire man, very unique place. Highly recommend it especially if your son is old enough to remember stuff.

I'm traveling overseas by myself for the first time ever in September. What should I do in order to prevent myself from getting kidnapped/taken advantage of being a clueless foreigner with 0 travel experience?

Depends on where you go. And who you are.

But do research as if you’re going to live there so you can get a gist of the culture and customs.

That’s the #1 reason tourists get caught up while traveling. They think the rules of back home apply overseas. If you show even a little bit of cultural understanding and respect then you’ll be good more time than not. If they speak a different language try to learn a few phrases so they don’t look at you like a dumb tourist.

If you really want to blend in then look up the fashion scene in the place you going and dress like that. I went to Berlin and was dressing like an emo goth kid and got into berghain even though I was a tourist. (if you don’t know what berghain is it’s a famous club in Berlin where you have to pass a vibe check at the door to get in. Once you’re in you can stay in the club all weekend and be naked if you’d like. Best techno set I even heard was in that club)

Avoid tourist traps. Party with the locals.
