So much stuff like this sounds like the writers having an imaginary argument in their head instead of writing characters like actual people

It could be a very funny satire about “woke” identity politics and s*** like that.

Or it’s another reminder that liberal Californians shouldn’t be allowed to write TV shows. Nobody talks like that except liberal Californians and liberal New Yorkers. These people are stuck in a bubble, disconnected from reality, they don’t know how normal people interact. Overwritten dialogues work only if you’re talented and if you have something to say.
