Thats all you need. Over time you probably will get more equipment. Anyways, mess around with the daw first. Don't make anything until you know your way around it. Ask yourself questions and answer it by using the daw. For example, ask yourself "how do I insert a track" then you should have the answer because you saw the icon/know the keyboard shortcut. Once you know the daw you could start making basic beats. They will sound trash but thats just because making beats takes trial and error. Everything else will fall in line because you are bound to continue on your journey. One piece of advice. DO NOT DELETE YOUR EARLY PROJECTS THEY WILL TEACH YOU SOMETHING IN THE FUTURE. DO NOT GIVE UP. IF YOU HAVE CREATIVE BLOCK STUDY THE GREATS. DO NOT RUSH. DO NOT FOCUS ON MASTERING, ETC. FOCUS ON THE BASICS. Good luck.

watch tutorials, search how to make a "insert artist" type beat and practice

  • Jun 4, 2020

I got some good tutorials for ya

  • Jun 4, 2020

also download some drum kits from reddit

  • Practice as much as you possibly can. I'm also in the process of reteaching myself how to make beats (having touched FL Studio in like 9 years). Reddit is your best friend for drum kits & product tips, YouTube for tutorials. It's cool to mimic some of your favorite products to help you craft your own style.

    1 through 5 is 4 bars
    Loop it
    Turn on the metronome
On a new track Put the snare on every third beat or every forth beat using the metronome.
    Open a new track
Add a melody piano or somn
    Open another track
    Add a kick drum
    Open another
    Add bass
    Open another
    Add hi hats
Duplicate those four bars for however long u want the song to be
    Arraign the beat
    Mix the best
    U made a beat

honestly the interface is pretty easy to navigate. Takes about 3-4 days to get a good idea of how to move around but youll be constantly learning s*** as you go

best way to start is to literally just jump in & start

thats what i did when i was 14 or 15 years old

its overwhelming n s*** at first but you're never gonna get used to it until you start doing it

my first few years was ass where i didnt even know how to structure or place a snare in the right place, but at 17 is when i got decent & wrapped my head around it, 20 is when i developed my own sound, got good & felt confident, now at 23 i feel i got it all sorted out & firing off.

i was lost af too at first but it was still exciting to me to learn & get through it because i really like music in general & wanted to learn how i can get into it myself by any means.

it takes time but nothing aint gonna happen till you start making it happen, & the beginnings is how you find out if you really want to do this.
