just finished watching this and it's probably the best show I've seen this year. it was originally made in 2000 but got put on Netflix last month with a digital restoration and new soundtrack

11 episodes at like 45 min each

the show is about 4 young guys in Buenos Aires dealing with housing insecurity, poverty, and crime. don't want to give anything away but I know I gotta sell this s*** so let's say it's a cross between Lean on Me, The Wire, and Gomorrah

shot amateur style but some of the directing was so well done and had me on the edge of my seat. the acting was incredible too, and there are a lot of characters that will stick with me for a long time

I get that Simuladores is the classic Argentinian TV show but Okupas in another stratosphere imo

really might have earned a spot in my top 10 TV shows of all time list

also just realized this is the #1 highest rated "film" on Letterboxd rn
