Remember early summer 2015? It was a simpler time to be a Drake stan. The Boy had blessed us a few months prior with IYRTITL, his first mixtape since SFG, and enjoyed what was pretty much universal acclaim from critics and rap heads alike. His verses on My Way, RICO, and Where Ya At? were dominating the radio, and everything was pointing toward his forthcoming studio album, Views From The 6, being his one true masterpiece.

Then Meek talked that talk on Twitter and everything changed. Not because of Meek's allegations, which no one in the know took very seriously, but the ease with which Drake disposed of him in Back to Back and the 2015 OVO Fest. The Boy had officially become too big to fail and needed to be knocked down a peg.

Long story short, the lead-up to Views became completely subsumed by the Meek beef, just as the lead-up to Scorpion (a really strong album IMO) was eventually cannibalized by the Pusha nonsense. Which is to say that I am really looking forward to an album roll-out that is just about the music, something we haven't enjoyed since NWTS. But things have been different since the Meek beef and you can't convince me otherwise.

I agree in the sense that Meek and Pusha defo had some influence on Drake's albums following their respective beefs.

LP6 will be the first album in a minute where Drake is not consumed by some beef (if you consider the Pusha beef to be dead now)
