Dilutes everything further, same reason why those Disney live action remakes suck

I’m always down to respect and honour the past but this isn’t the way to do it

I don’t think disney remaking their movies equates something like taylor rerecording her own music so she has ownership of it

    tbh i think its cool

This thread assumes a lot of s*** and maybe 10% of it will come true lol

I know but this is mostly a hypothetical but this depends on the zeal rappers have to get that money and it’s a lot , and money is the real vector for stuck culture

  • Nov 21, 2021

Eventually we will be stuck in the 90s and 2000s

Agreed & its not like Taylor is stopping making new music or others

Unlike a lot of major film studios currently

The correlation is not the same & two totally different fields currently

  • Taylor really goated for showing ppl the way to get their masters back.

who wouldn't want to hear 50 Cent re-record his old albums? that would be so dope

  • Nov 21, 2021

Yes DMX is gonna re-record his old songs

    i completely agree

plus being a fan of hers, the unreleased/unheard stuff that come with the rereleases, are a WAY bigger draw for me and many others, rather than the old tracks weve heard before

    Exactly.

Whats the difference of this or a greatest hits or an anniversary re relase or a remaster?

It only affects those, postive or negative, of those that are a fan already.

It barely has any effect on music as a whole, especially in a genre like Rap.

    Yeah for older people lol

Younger kids & casuals ie the main demo does not care overall & only care about their era n newer stuff

This will not have any effect on anything except for the people that are already fans of said artists

Most people only paid attention to Verzuz that they had personal attachment too

I think older artist might even start drowning the younger artists like imagine all the album sales charts are all old acts and the new artist and new artist only do 20k When it was a just young artists competing they had room to play but now major players are gonna start coming in

becoming a being a break out artist will be a lot more difficult when you’re competing with Drake Kanye Kendrick J. Cole rereleases monthly That they released confidently because they know this will sell they instead of trying to make a new product that they have to make sure is perfect

the music industry will start shifting to catering to older artists , having them do shows in big arena tourist etc. etc.

My biggest prediction is that Drake will not drop any more new albums ever and the next album he drops is TML re-recording then Take Care etc. etc.

Cameron said he’s dropping three different Netflix movies about his life and Dipset before the albums

Just know it will be huge

I honestly can even see if it’s promoted right some artists might even sell better now than they did with their initial first week

Disagree because the younger audience & casual listener makes up the majority of sales, not older people or older fans.

If this was true then re releases & remasters would have a similar effect, or back in the day - greatest hits.

The only way this would happen is if there arent any new artists available that are poppin, or newer artists that are riding off of cliches of older music (like what happened to rock) for their own new music, but again, rap artists & especially rap fans do not reflect on the past or even want it, unlike a lot of rock.

Rap as an identity in mainstream would have to completely shift from what its been since the 90s. Very young person & new pushing attitude.

I can see it hurt older vet acts, as in older artists stop releasing newer projects that arent gonna sell so much in place of re releasing new recording of the "classics/hits" that will nostagia bait & also be recognizable (& potentially when they were just genuinely better) thus more sales n money for themselves. It can even affect labels with classic acts to force them to only release re-recordings of their peaks. Instead of investing into new projects that have a high chance to not do as well for vet acts.

But i can almost guarantee it wont effect newer music. Only, maybe, older acts & their already established fanbases.

This isn’t new and a reissued Dipset album wouldn’t be the cause of it anyway, and you’re going to stop Freaky Zeeky getting some money over it for shame sir, for shame

No one under the age of 23 have any real idea who they are nor are they accustomed to their sound 💀

It will just be a celebration & cool moment for those that already enjoy them

Trust me it just takes too much money to break a new artist, why promote a new artists with so much risk and volatility … instead of just promoting the old albums Thant you know 100% willl sell with the right story may it be a sob story or appreciation

Camron music definitely will hit in 2021

He actually didn’t get enough appreciation then

He was going platinum before Jay Z went platinum once

I know artists want to reap the benefits of their old recordings but personally I don’t want them to re-record their classics

He’s definitely smart because he’ll be the first in rap to do it and he has elaborate plan to promote it with the films and other such things
    He could make big bucks
