That’s not at all what he’s saying, that’s what you’re reading. What he’s saying is that pop music is built upon familiarity. It’s supposed to grab your attention and keep you occupied for 3-4 minutes. In pop music ideas get rehashed all the time. Melodies get reused, chord progressions get reused, etc. I can guarantee you every single melody played in the video has been used by an artist somewhere down the line.

I think her music is pretty much generic trash, but this is pop. A unique mainstream pop artist is virtually impossible at this point.
