the chorus of get him back! is huge. i want, sweet reveeeenge
i just wish i liked the verses a bit more. her rock songs > her ballads
I don't get it, why is this about Taylor? What happened?
Taylor was super supportive of Olivia when she was first coming up, but then as soon as Sour released, the relationship seemingly just stopped.
1 step forward, 3 steps back interpolates "New Years Day" from Reputation, and the interpolation was approved and all that, no issues.
But a few months later, Taylor (as well as Jack Antonoff and a few others) suddenly appeared as credited producers on "Deja Vu" for an apparent interpolation of Taylor's "Cruel Summer." It's all speculation, but people think that the clearing and approval for that didn't go smoothly and that started a beef between the two.
There's really no actual evidence that they are feuding, but that hasn't stopped people from sensationalizing it by coming up with conspiracies that Vampire is all about Taylor, or Taylor choosing Sabrina Carpenter (the girl who Olivia's ex "cheated" with and is referenced multiple times on Sour) to open for her on her tour is a direct shot at Olivia.
As far as the lyrics in the new song go, they're too vague to definitively say it's about anybody, but I guess the "phone call in May" lyric lines up with Sour's release, when the issues between the two would have started.
On her track "the grudge"
"I have nightmares each week about that Friday in May
One phone call from you and my entire world was changed"
"Ooh, do you think I deserved it all?
Ooh, your flower's filled with vitriol
You built me up to watch me fall
You have everything and you still want more"
"Trust that you betrayed, confusion that still lingers
You took everything I loved and crushed it in between your fingers
And I doubt you ever think about the damage that you did
But I hold on to every detail like my life depends on it"
"And I try to be tough, but I wanna scream
How could anybody do the things you did so easily?"
apparently
lmao i just got to this song and i think she just talking about some boy like every other song. the second verse and the song in general is a lil heavy to be talking about her lil tiff with Taylor. but who knows!

Interesting
Thanks for explaining!
yeah this is a much easier listen for me than SOUR. more upbeat, a bit more varied. she has a formula for her ballads but she's early in her songwriting career and is gonna grow out of that as she finds more techniques and things to talk about. it doesn't have as strong singles as the SOUR trio of driver's license, deja vu and good 4 u, but it's overall more consistent to me. this is a step up
ballad of a homeschooled girl is THE ONE. one of her best songs and should be a single
Deluxe announced. https://spillurguts.com/
https://twitter.com/popcrave/status/16995128012266417834 extra classic songs, thank you ORod!
“every boy I like is gay” can’t wait for the twitter takes :chanlaff:
Guess I’m gay then
Olivia saw niggas stealing credits off hits she wrote herself and had enough
The only option was to level up
Nobody can accuse her of ripping someone else off with this song.
She leveled up her entire craft for this album
Production, lyrics, everything is a MASSIVE step-up from SOUR
Dan Nigro, I wasn't familiar with your game
People can now stop with the plagiarism accusations and "her songs are so Disney-fied and infantile!!!" remarks
The album is a hit from front to back, her tour is gonna be massive, and this is going to be an insane critical success
Halfway through this and I'm quite enjoying it so far!!
Tho i gotta say vampire feels oddly placed in the tracklisting
This is way way better than her debut album btw
sour is a 9/10 so my expectations high now
I don't get why she released bad idea right? as the second single
I mean... it's not bad but every other song on this album would've been the better choice
