you ever stop to thank your heart for beating?

As someone that grew up on dead prez & as a little kid felt his heart glow up at the mentioning of “tofu” on a whole rap song (”be healthy”), it was a shocker to hear that kind of song come back through Mach-fucking-Hommy of all people.

As I been emotionally navigating through a lot of black greatness leaving this damn earth due to preventable illnesses (still severely f***ed up over D), this song has been coming back into rotation a lot lately, and man…

All this talk of securing bags is hysterical
You are the bag, you gon’ stay rich if you take care of you.
Material is not comparable
people stay dripped in designer, but they treat themselves terrible
Damn.

Some ppl gon call it corny, some ppl gon call it “preachy”, and to those ppl I ask simply why do we only call things preachy and corny when the audio is asking the audience for positivity but its not preachy when its a negative message being reinforced over and over and over and over again. (Teaching in the 3rd grade in the bronx this semester, never realized how jarring it is meeting a 3rd grader that knows kay flock lyrics word for word)

And to some ppl like me, in a climate where a looooot of niggas need this, all I ask is why we dont have more of this?
