Impel Down was hard af

Yeah this arc was super fun and crazy. I liked that since Luffy is alone our crew was basically "replaced" with two old villains in Buggy and Mr 3. I expected Buggy to make a return at some point since his connection with Shanks but I didn't expect Mr 3 to make a return. It was hilarious that they kept trying to screw over Luffy and escape themselves but eventually they'd meet up with Luffy again and he was just happy to see them alive. Luffy is so pure

Bon Clay back This is the first time in the subs that they've referred to him as an Okama, and I looked it up and apparently it's like a catchall term for gay men, drag queens, effeminate men and M2F trans. In earlier arcs they just referred to him as a ballerina lmao.

I was really surprised to see how respectfully level 5.5 was handled and the rest of the Okama's. I fully expected them to be overly sexual or made out to be jokes or freaks. Especially given the fact that this was written in the late 2000's and probably translated around that time too. But they weren't which was great. Ivankov talking about how the people in level 5.5 had surpassed gender and such was cool and surprisingly progressive for the time.

I loved the relationship between Magellan and Hannyabal too. Just constantly taking shots at each other and being totally open about their ambitions

Crocodile Gotta be one of my favorite villains so far. His character design is too cold. The slicked back hair, the jewelry, the cigar, the suits, the way his coat is always just hanging on his shoulders It was awesome seeing him make a return.

All the fight scenes were crazy too. The animation is getting better and better. The way Luffy moves and his abilities all looked so smooth and clean. Magellan's poison stuff too. Everything was very easy to follow.

Bon Clay sacrificing himself for Luffy and the rest to go save Ace Gonna assume he isn't actually dead though since it was an off screen "death".
