this is wild, I just hope Oda can pull this one off
Can you or anyone else explain to me why so many people are on some f*** OP, Oda on some chosen one/Naruto/Bleach ish now
Never cared for Naruto/Bleach and this doesn't feel like some random chosen one power up to me with what we know so far but yeah

Idk why people have that mindset. Joy boy was being named drop back in skypiea arc I think
Plus we don’t really know the backstory of luffys devil fruit before shanks acquired it, and the gomu gomu no mi specific ability is why luffy is so durable and able to bounce back

I think people are worried after seeing how Naruto turned out
However I think Oda a much more clever writer than Kishimoto ever was. Plus the generic storytelling trope of the protagonist being the "chosen one" or that it his/ hers destiny to be the hero is very played out.
I believe in Oda tho, joy boy has been teased for a long time. Very excited to see how it all plays out

I've always liked that it's inherent to Luffy's fruit for him to bounce back
Joyboy was first brought up during fishman island but I agree
Inherited will/ancient ties have been built up for years, this doesn't feel like any random chosen one ish at all

This f***ing chapter man
I can’t believe there are people out there that haven’t read/watched one piece.
There’s people out there that consist Naruto/AoT peak anime/manga.
I used to be one of those people. Then oda humbled the s*** outta me
I remember I seen king of lightning I think say he believes Luffy's true fruit is that it's a giant fruit, and that he'll be able to turn into a giant or some s\*\*\*. Which maybe make sense, if Zuneisha which is a colossal thing, a giant in its own rights has a connection with joyboy. Elbalf has been hyped up too, we have to get an elbalf arc at this point. I feel that giant theory could make sense, especially when Kaido noted that rubber shouldn't be able to move or hit like it was.
I could kinda see it, still doesn’t explain enel or honestly even explain how his arms change direction in gear 4 but I’m sure the actual explanation will make sense
Joyboy was introduced so early, and people were theorizing for a while luffy had some connection to joyboy, its an organic and natural outcome, unlike naruto where it came out of nowhere. This was done great, in fact id say this chapter more than having a plot twist had a huge confirmation for one of the most theorized aspects of the story, because the pieces were already there

the giant Straw Hat that Imu has makes sense now
How was the reception to ch 957? Heard that one was crazy hyped but was still anime only at that point
It was like nothing I’ve seen really and the engagement was super crazy. Especially since it was back to back chapters with reveals, no break and Wano on the horizon. Last time that happened was when Luffy said Gear 4 and we had to wait 2 weeks and before that the Sabo reveal.

Need multiple chapters of just straight lore like 957 so bad
When did you start reading?

Realized now that was during the Yonkou bounty reveals
and even though that ch was crazy that wasn’t the chapters I had in mind
Meant the reverie chapters 906-908.
Caught up at ch 655
That was 10 years ago

Makes sense because the Reverie was basically all lore/Imu introduction
Which arc is ch 655 a part of - fishman?? (I need a site that goes all the way back to the start if you got that idk if it's just me but tcb doesn't)
